2015 Medusahead Symposium and Nevada Weed Management Association Conference

The Nevada Weed Management Association (NWMA) is hosting its 2015 conference in conjunction with a Medusahead Symposium, October 26-29, at the Nugget Hotel & Casino in Sparks, Nevada.

The Medusahead Symposium will take place October 26-27. The first day of the Symposium will consist of presentations concerning medusahead and its environmental and economic impacts. Day two will be a continuation of the first day’s discussions with a morning bus tour of medusahead infestations. There is no cost to participate in this event, but those anticipating to attend are asked to pre-register so that a headcount may be estimated for food, beverages and tour participants.

The NWMA Conference will take place October 28-29. The theme for this event is “Catalyst for Change: Opening the Conversation for Changing Nevada’s Noxious Weed Program.” The Conference will encompass several presentations on topics including the politics of noxious weeds, greater sage-grouse and noxious weeds and the Healthy Habitats legislation. Presenters for these sessions have been invited from throughout Nevada, as well as several neighboring states.

The NWMA Conference will also include several breakout sessions that will allow participants to earn continuing education units (CEUs) required for the renewal of applicator licenses. Breakout sessions will be: Biology, Restoration and New Technologies; Mapping and GIS; Pesticides, New Chemicals, and Adjuvants; Integrated Pest Management; Laws and Regulations; Nevada Regional Updates.
